A Rule Book (cont.)

Rule Book and Artwork by Susan Catlett

Adding rules to my Rule Book is great fun: it allows me to think through my days, what I do, and why I do it. I have a couple more rules I am working on, so stay tuned to see what I will include in my Book. I enjoy this so much that I make myself laugh. Thank you for your positive feedback. It is a great encouragement.

Rule #10
Get out of the house as much as possible, rain or shine.

Every morning, we go out to breakfast. I know that is impossible for everyone, but it has proven to be a positive step for Cliff and me. It gives me a reason to get up and get going in the morning, and it doesn’t give me time to lay in bed and feel sorry for myself, which sometimes can be very tempting. My Care Giver arrives at 7:30 am, so I had better be ready to head to the shower, or I will be out of luck for the day.

Going to movies and restaurants are two of our favorite things. We try to keep busy every day. Rarely do we turn down invitations for coffee or meals out with friends. Sadly, it is almost impossible to go to someone’s home because of my wheelchair and bathroom access, so we meet friends in other places. Being out and about with people we love brings joy to my heart.

For me, getting out of the house includes rolling around the garden or up and down the street. Be creative when it comes to changing scenery. It is all good.

The Rule Book, to be continued…
